Partially restored/grounds open to public
13th century
Bishop von Havelberg

The castle has been, for the most part, in ruins since its destruction in the 30 Years War. Around 1969-1973 it was partly rebuilt and a museum installed.

It was built by the bishops originally to protect the area around Wittstock from Mecklinburg. The castle changed hands frequently in its first century, ending up in the hands of Alan and Cuno von Rohr in 1359. It remained in this family's possession until 1620. In 1556 a new three-wing complex was added and was at one time surrounded by a water filled moat.
